3:46 pm - Time to party!
|
I would like to invite those who would like to celebrate my 40th birthday with me to my birthday party.
The party is this Sunday, starting around 4pm and running until we get tired and kick you out.
We'll be cooking burgers and bratwurst in the back yard and probably watching some movies on the computer.
It is going to be a casual, laid-back affair.
Please let me know if you are planning on coming so I can make sure to have enough food on hand.
Thank you.

5:03 pm - Oh Internets....
|
Answer me a question please...
I'm looking for a way to sell a few items online using Paypal. These aren't high profit items, so expensive solutions won't work. I expect to maybe make $1K total a year if I'm lucky.
I just need to be able to post pictures, and to accept paypal payments for them. I've got a business account, so I should be able to take credit cards.
Thanks!

Turns out Aliera wasn't pregnant, but it was some type of infection/parasite that did her in. The vet wasn't really sure. However they did start her on antibiotics and fluids right away, which would have been the course of action advised.

3:57 pm - Not a good day...
|
Yesterday we got word from from the people keeping Aliera for a breeding loan that she was having some problems. Turns out it looks like she has a potential ruptured egg sack and can't give birth. There is a nearby University hospital that can probably handle it, but they want $2500-$3500 to do so. We can't afford that. So we are going to have to have the local vet handle it, but he isn't comfortable with his skill level for this type of situation with a boa.
So it looks like her chances of surviving this are somewhat slim.
And I got a migraine at lunch today.
Damn.
Just got a call from the vet. She passed away. Vet doesn't thing she would have survived going under for the surgery anyway. He is going to do a necropsy.
Damn.

And let me tell you, it is pretty weird and creepy when your tents are the only camping tents you can see.
We got in just before 6pm and are pretty much set up now.

With today being the deadline, it looks like I'll just squeak in under the wire. I've got a few pieces of pipe and a sping to pick up on the way home from work, then I just need to hook up all the plumbing. Should be able to give it a test run. I'll post video once I get it there.
( Here is the rest of the progression. )

8:30 am - Power hammer update...
|
On the 31st of Last month I said I would get my power hammer finished in 30 days. Well, I'm going all out. Progress is going well, but I've run into a few snags ordering parts needed (out of stock, etc...) However I think I'll still make my deadline. Here is what it looks like so far.

6:15 am - Weight Loss
|
Well, as a quick update, it appears I may have been wrong about my weight loss. It appears that our bathroom scale is broken. It reads me at 215 no matter what I weigh. Checking myself out on the scale outside the local grocery store though it appears that since my last post on it, I'm down about 8 pounds. Sandy also let me know that when I was standing next to a friend of our that we don't see all that often, I looked smaller.
I still feel way too heavy, but it is nice to know that I'm making some headway.

Straylight.
Just not sure yet.
Some of the mechanics look interesting, but I'm not all that happy with the new interface.
I'll be glad when somebody maps the new areas.

10:20 am - Sweet Zombie Jesus!
|
Been an interesting month since the last update. I gave up Coke.
Yes, those of you who know me as a priest in the First Church of Coke are probably mightily surprised. Well, since my wife is giving up Diet Coke in preparation of possibly getting pregnant, I figured it would be nice to support her and give up the caffeine habit myself.
I thought I'd be smart, but tapering off was triggering headaches and migraines. So I went cold turkey after a week. So for the course of three weeks, I pretty much had constant headaches and about 4-5 migraines. Plus I think I had a few days of the flu mixed in just to make it interesting.
But I'm now off it, and not even craving it. Which is weird, because I wasn't even craving it during withdrawal. However, I've now noticed another side effect of this.
Just as a bit of background, around the time I turned twenty, I was weighing around 180-190#. A serious throat infection managed to drop me down to about 170#, which was 18# in 3 days. Very impressive and unhealthy. However since then, my weight has been on a constant climb. Slow, but consistent. By the time I moved to PA, age 32, I was over 200#, and pushing 210#. By the time I'd met Sandy, I was 220#, and still creeping up. My metabolism had also slowed down, which was probably helping with the weight gain despite my being unable to eat large meals anymore (normal restaurant sized meals just about makes me want to puke to relieve the pressure if I eat it all). For the last year, I've been between 223# and 230#.
However, this morning, I got on the scale and I weighed 215#!!
Pretty much, it has been giving up the Coke and cutting my total soda consumption by about 1/3rd! We have gotten a treadmill, but I've only been on it about 3-4 times. I'm horribly out of shape, and the best I've done is 10 minutes at about 2mph, for 1/3rd of a mile, so I don't think that has made that much contribution to it.
But I've lost between 10-15# in only a month. This has encouraged me to try and convert even more of my soda drinking to water drinking. Plus I'm hoping to get up to 1/2 an hour a day on the treadmill.
Sweet Zombie Jesus!!!!

9:50 pm - Please don't ask me...
|
Yesterday I was walking by a common area at work and heard somebody ask a gentleman what he got his lady for Valentine's Day.
I could only think that it was a good thing he wasn't asking me that....
I'd be forced to answer: "Abdominal Surgery"

7:26 am - Puzzles I DON'T like...

A letter arrived yesterday. From Seattle. No return address. Handwritten address (real, not one of those fake fonts). And it was partially torn open with nothing inside the envelope. I called the only person I could think of that I knew in Seattle, and they hadn't sent it.
